Steve, April, Sydney and Jessie

Jessie and April came home today around noon. Jessie’s been really good, not a lot of fussing and sleeping most of the time. She does wake up and ask politely for food in the middle of the night, so there will be some transition for us all. We are still trying to finish our Master bedroom and bathroom remodeling so for now Jessie, April and Steve are all sleeping in Jessie’s room. We’ll see how her first night at home goes…

Sydney is really proud to be a big sister.  She likes to tell people about her new baby sister who she calls Mei-Mei (little sister in Chinese) or Baby Jessie.  Its really great to see her take interest in her new sister and wants to hold and touch her alot.  So far she’s getting along really well and wants to go spend time with “her baby”… let’s hope that holds.

This morning at 1:32am we welcomed Jessie Yo-Mei Schalkhauser into the world. Her birth was pretty quick compared to her big sister. We were only at the hospital for about 2 hours before she made her grand entrance. April gave birth without using any pain killers….nothing. au-natural. It was really amazing. Jessie weighed in at 7lbs. 9oz. and is 20in. long. We have a loop of the pictures available below… We’ll be creating an online album soon as well.

No real signs of baby coming any time soon yet. We had a garage sale over the weekend to clear space in the house to move things around. Hopefully we can get the bathroom details finished this week so we can move back into our master bedroom and get a place for baby to sleep. No name selection still….

We are now 9 days from due day. Last night we got out the baby car seat and bassinet from storage. Getting that stuff out really made the reality of the pending birth sink in (that and April’s beach ball attached to her stomach). Sydney is enjoying putting her babies into the car seat as practice for the arrival of #2. She says she’s going to help take car of baby when it comes…hopefully she can learn to help change diapers!

Oh, by the way, we still don’t have names figured out yet…although they too will be kept a secret until the day of.
